MAIR – Chapter 67 – Golden Melody Awards

Shen Huai did spend more time with Ye Cang recently, but he didn’t forget about Chu Mei Bo either. It’s just he cared in a different way than others thought.

Shen Huai frowned at Chu Mei Bo’s latest monthly exam results, until Chu Mei Bo who was always calm and a little detached became a little nervous, her eyes fixed on Shen Huai.

Shen Huai put down her report card and reasoned Chu Mei Bo hadn’t worked hard, she got her present score from her personal foundation. It was already very good, but this score was not enough to get her in the Beijing Film Academy.

Shen Huai frowned and thought about how to bring up this topic.

Ye Cang who had just finished writing a song came out of his room to have a rest. Seeing that the two people in the living room looked as if they were facing an archenemy, he came down and asked curiously, “What are you doing?”

As soon as he spoke, he saw the report card on the desk, and without thinking, he said, “I’ll go back, this result is too bad! How could you possibly only get 20 percent in math?”

Chu Mei Bo: “…”

Looking at Sister Mei’s dangerous eyes, Ye Cang immediately realized who this report card belonged to.

“That… Ahem, that, Sister Mei, this is not what I mean. You haven’t been in school for a hundred years. It’s normal that you don’t understand the current studies. It’s already very good to achieve this result! “

Chu Mei Bo sneered.

Ye Cang’s survival instinct broke out, and he hurriedly said, “The main reason is that the exam was too difficult! Really! It’s definitely not that you did poorly on the exam.”

Seeing that Ye Cang’s words became more and more absurd, Shen Huai had no choice but to take over the topic, “The other subjects are OK for the time being, but the science results are a little worse than expected, so we need to focus on tutoring in this area.”

Chu Mei Bo’s originally noble and cool expression suddenly froze.

Shen Huai then said, ” ‘Honey’ has already finished filming and ‘Travel with History’ will not officially start shooting until the end of the year. Before the end of the college entrance examination, I will not pick any new roles for you. First, we will raise your score.”

Chu Mei Bo’s face collapsed. She would have never thought that the biggest difficulty she encountered after her rebirth would be mathematics!!

But she also understood that Shen Huai was doing that for her own good, so she had no choice but to agree reluctantly.

Ye Cang breathed a sigh of relief for dodging the bullet, and escaped.

Shen Huai pressed his forehead and lamented once again that the direction of his career became more and more biased.

Soon it was November 16, which was the day of the Golden Melody Awards ceremony. But compared with the undercurrent of previous years, with Ye Cang constantly breaking records this year, the Golden Melody Awards this time could be said to hold no suspense.

Shen Huai prepared the tuxedo for Ye Cang early. The last time Ye Cang wore the tuxedo of V brand, the effect was very good and the brand side was very satisfied, so when Shen Huai mentioned it this time, the other side agreed.

Compared with the sapphire blue from last time, this time Shen Huai chose a relatively low-key black color, but the well-cut suit did not appear rigid at all. Coupled with simple but fashionable accessories it emphasized the advantages of Ye Cang’s figure.

As the most popular person at the Golden Melody Awards, flash and shutter sounds never stopped from the moment Ye Cang stepped on the red carpet. Fans also started screaming with all their strength, and the short red carpet walk became the Golden Melody Awards’ first highlight of the evening.

After Ye Cang took photos and accepted the host’s brief interview, he was finally able to enter the premises.

At the same time, Shen Huai, Chu Mei Bo and the others have been sitting down the stage as relatives and friends.

Chu Mei Bo had been studying hard recently. Coming to the Golden Melody Awards ceremony could also be regarded as a rest for her.

The group of friends and relatives were seated separately from the candidates.

When Chu Mei Bo listened to the deafening screams coming from outside the venue, she said with a smile, “Junior Ye is still very popular.”

Shen Huai felt helpless. He knew that Chu Mei Bo liked to joke. Especially since last time when Ye Cang laughed at Chu Mei Bo’s results. After he helped him find a way out, Chu Mei Bo bore a grudge, so when she got the chance, she would laugh at him. He didn’t know how he would be teased by her if he answered.

Shen Huai didn’t speak and Chu Mei Bo thought it was too boring, so she stopped teasing.

This was normal in their eyes, but not necessarily in other people’s eyes.

Menghe Entertainment happened to have someone shortlisted for the Golden Melody Awards for best newcomer this time. Hua Rong specifically came to this venue and her sitting position was not far from Shen Huai and Chu Mei Bo, so she was able to hear the conversation between them.

When she heard their talk, her eyes flashed, she stood up from her seat and walked towards them.

“Long time no see, Mr. Shen.”

Shen Huai raised his head and looked at the smiling Hua Rong. His eyebrows moved slightly and he said lightly, “Long time no see.”

Because Shen Huai’s seat was on the inside, Hua Rong turned her head to Chu Mei Bo and asked, “Do you mind if I sit here?”

Chu Mei Bo raised her eyebrows and said, “Please.”

Hua Rong politely thanked her and sat next to Chu Mei Bo. Although she seemed to be chatting with Shen Huai all of her attention was on Chu Mei Bo.

Shen Huai didn’t mind that Hua Rong poached Xu Anqi, but it didn’t mean that he had no problem with Hua Rong. In particular, Hua Rong’s purpose this time was obvious, it was Chu Mei Bo.

The circle stresses on harmony and wealth. On the surface, everyone laughs even if they tear each other apart behind their backs. In addition, Shen Huai has a good reputation in the industry and is always a gentleman, so Hua Rong never thought that he would be so indifferent to her.

No matter what Hua Rong said, Shen Huai just answered lightly and didn’t try to converse.

Hua Rong was the director of the artist agent department of Menghe Entertainment. In terms of identity she was above Shen Huai, but Shen Huai didn’t give her any face. She became embarrassed, so she said a few words at random and hurried back to her own seat.

As soon as she left, Chu Mei Bo turned to Shen Huai and said, “Who is she?”

Shen Huai frowned slightly, but still said, “Her name is Hua Rong, she is an agent of Menghe Entertainment.”

“An agent?” Chu Mei Bo repeated thoughtfully. “Do you have a history with her?”

Shen Huai paused, “Three years ago, my artist jumped to her side.”

After thinking for a moment, Chu Mei Bo remembered Xu Anqi, who came to make trouble with her before, and suddenly realized, “It seems that there is still a competition? Last time, Xu Anqi came to me for a demonstration, but it didn’t work out. This time, she switched to her agent?”

“What demonstration?” Shen Huai frowned and looked at Chu Mei Bo. “Why didn’t you tell me that before?”

“Well, I didn’t say that? Maybe I forgot.” Chu Mei Bo slipped out and coughed quickly. “In short, it doesn’t matter. Next time she comes to you to make trouble, this sister will show her her place for you.”

Shen Huai: “…”

Shen Huai said helplessly, “I don’t think she came to show off in front of me. Hua Rong is a person who puts her interests first and never does useless things. She specifically came here for another reason.”

Chu Mei Bo was stupefied for a moment. “What do you mean? She came here for me?”

“I think it’s quite possible.” Shen Huai calmly analyzed, “Although Menghe Entertainment also has singers, their main focus is on actors.”

“Xu Anqi has almost secured her position of a flower. If Hua Rong thinks you are a threat to her, either she will find a way to suppress you, or she will try to find a way to dig you. —— I’m afraid she was testing it when she came over.”

Although Chu Mei Bo came from the time of the Anti Japanese War, she had always hated these twists and turns. Coupled with Hua Rong’s dishonorable means she immediately disliked her. “Is there only one actress in this circle? Even if her opponent is suppressed, can it make her acting become better? I simply don’t understand the so-called putting the cart before the horse.”

Although Shen Huai didn’t like Hua Rong’s behavior, he commented objectively, “Although Hua Rong’s means are not honorable, she is good at making stars, and Xu Anqi can enjoy her present status, thanks to her contribution.”

Chu Mei Bo raised her eyebrows. “Why do I feel you are speaking for your competitors? Are you so sure she can’t dig me out?”

Shen Huai: “I know you won’t be.”

His reply pleased Chu Mei Bo. She supported her chin with one hand and a smile appeared on her red lips. “Without work, the so-called popularity is nothing more than bubbles. It will disappear when the sun sets down. It’s much less attractive to me than an interesting new character to act.”

“Besides, if I want to become popular, do I need someone to plan it for me?”

Chu Mei Bo’s tone was indifferent, but her words were arrogant. However, being the legendary movie queen of the Republic of China she was indeed qualified to say these words.

Shen Huai’s heart was moved slightly, and his eyes turned to the front of the auditorium. Even across so many people, he still recognized Ye Cang’s back with just a glance.

Although he was confident and determined in front of Chu Mei Bo, in fact he still had some doubts.

In many people’s eyes, even if you practice hard, hone your acting skills, devote yourself painstakingly to creating, and shoot a movie that may not be very popular, easily winning the favor of the fans and earning a lot of money holds a much greater attraction.

People have their own aspirations, and Shen Huai didn’t intend to criticize them, but he was still really disappointed.

It’s not that he can’t make people popular, but this way it loses the significance of being an agent.

At the beginning, Shen Huai had already thought about whether to end this game, but at that time he met Ye Cang.

Ye Cang on stage let him regain his faith in what he once believed in.

At this time, the awards’ host and guest just announced the list of candidates for the best newcomer award. When the images of several people were shown on the large screen, the scene immediately burst into applause.

She opened the envelope and said with a smile, “Who is the best newcomer this year? In everyone’s mind there should already be a candidate.”

Everybody present immediately burst in laughter, and some people even shouted Ye Cang’s name.

The presenter of the award no longer tried to play tricks and said, “I’ll announce his name now. His name is Ye Cang.”

There was no suspense about this result. Li Zihang who was sitting beside Ye Cang, clapped him on the back, “Congratulations, brother!”

People around him were congratulating him too, but they all knew that this was just the beginning.

Ye Cang smiled. “Thank you.”

He stood up,went on stage and hugged the award presenter, then took the trophy and read the acceptance speech in a proper manner.

After the best newcomer, it was soon turn for the best male singer award.

The award presenter was an acquaintance. Tang Ruoyi looked at the big screen and joked, “I see a familiar face, and I bet this face will continue to appear on the screen tonight.”

The audience immediately burst in laughter, and Ye Cang shrugged helplessly.

Tang Ruoyi opened the envelope with a smile. “Alright, no more jokes, let’s congratulate the winner of the 26th Golden Melody Awards for best male singer.”

“– Ye Cang.”
