Spare Tire is Gone – Chapter 3 (R)

After hearing Qi Cong’s three deadly questions, Shen Jia blinked quickly, and then picked out the easiest and simplest question to answer. “I said ‘you remember’, because in the three years you’ve forgotten now, you lost all your previous memories because of a high fever.”

The answer was a little confusing, but Qi Cong quickly understood. He was surprised. “I lost my memory before?”

“Well, when you woke up from the fever, you didn’t even recognize your parents. When I went to see you, you even asked who I was.”

Qi Cong didn’t know what to say for a moment.

Amnesia and amnesia again, was his constitution prone to amnesia?

Shen Jia whispered, “If I knew you would remember the past if you tried committing suicide and could also forget that scumbag as well, I would -“

Qi Cong looked at Shen Jia. “What are you talking about?”

Shen Jia closed his mouth. He quickly changed the subject and said in a loud voice, “I said…I said that the work I am doing now is not related to my major in University. I am, I… ” His voice grew smaller and smaller.

When Qi Cong saw Shen Jia’s hesitation, his expression became strange and he frowned. “Why do you hesitate to speak? It’s normal not to do anything related to your major after graduation. It is the same with many other people. It’s nothing, isn’t it?  Are you doing something illegal?”

“Of course not!” Shen Jia quickly denied and moved his hands on the steering wheel. He looked a little ashamed, as his ears became red and his voice was quiet like a mosquito. “My current job is as an artist.”

“What?” Qi Cong did not hear clearly. The more he looked at Shen Jia, the more suspicious he became. He glanced over Shen Jia’s bright silver hair, wide black shirt with an irregular cut, and exaggerated jewelry on his neck and wrist. His expression changed. “Are you working in pornography?”

“No, no, no, I don’t!” Shen Jia was anxious so his voice grew louder. “I’m an artist now, that is, a star! That kind of idol who sings and dances! Of course, I also act, but not too much. “

Qi Cong froze. “Star?”

Shen Jia’s neck turned red, and his voice dropped. “Mm-hmm.”

“Singing and dancing…. Idol? “

His voice became even lower. “…. Mm-hmm. ”

Qi Cong looked Shen Jia up and down and thought it was incredible. “You…sing and dance? Didn’t you always stutter nervously when you had a class speech? A star. You’re performing on stage? “

Shen Jia pretended to be calm. “These things can be overcome, you just need to get used to it.”

Qi Cong still thought it was incredible.

Shen Jia was timid and introverted since childhood. He even said in their adolescence, “in the future I want to find a job that doesn’t require contact with people.” Yet now Shen Jia has become an artist who has to face a lot of people?

He looked at Shen Jia.

Shen Jia drove with his head down.

After a while, Qi Cong finally digested the news. He slowly said, “As long as you don’t do anything against the law. It’s good to be an artist, no, it’s very good. You used to be so scared.”

He looked at Shen Jia, who was obviously much more confident and generous than he remembered and suddenly smiled. Qi Cong finally managed to say what was on his mind all this this time. “Jia Jia, when you perform on the stage, you must be very handsome. Just like before, when you overcame your fear and finished your speeches excellently.”

Shen Jia froze and looked sideways at Qi Cong.

The sun was about to set and the orange light shone in from outside the window, enveloping Qi Cong and dying him with a layer of gold. He was leaning on the seat, wearing a pure white T-shirt and coffee colored slacks temporarily bought from a small shop next to the hospital. His skin was so white that it almost blended in with his white T-shirt because he had not seen light for a long time. His hair was black and soft and several long strands fell on his shoulders from behind his neck. Because he was too thin, the T-shirt seemed to be a little baggy on him, which gave people the feeling he was very fragile. When he smiled, his apricot eyes were very similar to Qi Yin and were slightly curved. His long and dense eyelashes were full, which dimed the smile in his eyes. His lips were light and slightly hooked. His face was soft and handsome. The outline was bathed in the sun, looking very gentle and powerful.

This Qi Cong was so familiar, and so memorable.

Shen Jia turned back, raised his hand and pinched his nose before he smiled. “Just so-so, but not particularly handsome. When brother Cong makes his debut, he will be more handsome than me! “

Qi Cong smile froze.

He realized something he had overlooked. “Debut?”

“Yes.” Shen Jia was very happy. “Brother Cong, didn’t you wanted to follow me? You can rest assured, although I am only a small fry in the entertainment circle, I still have my sister. She has set up her own brokerage company, and I will ask her to sign you later. With your looks, it won’t be a problem to become popular overnight! Then the two of us will become the pinnacle of the entertainment industry! ”

Qi Cong opened his mouth. He saw Shen Jia’s cheerful expression, thought of the present situation at home and silently closed his mouth.

He almost forgot; he has no capital or much of a choice.

They arrived at the apartment before they had a chance to talk about the third question.

The apartment that Qi Cong rented was very good. It was next to the subway station, the property management was excellent, and the surrounding facilities were completed. It was also close to the pedestrian street, which was very popular with high-income white-collar workers.

Even so, Qi Cong was not happy at all when he saw it.

He wanted to strangle his past self from the previous three years. Although he had amnesia and owed credit card debt, he lived comfortably while his parents were suffering in an old neighborhood without air conditioning.

He forced himself to turn his attention away from the apartment and instead asked Shen Jia, “There is another question you haven’t answered yet. Jiang Zhaoyan, the person Little Uncle mentioned. Is he the man you were talking about? “

Shen Jia didn’t want Qi Cong to have anything to do with Jiang Zhaoyan again. He wished that Jiang Zhaoyan would completely disappear from Qi Cong’s life, but he didn’t want to deceive him.

He nodded and tried to answer as simply as possible. “Yes. You and he met each other during the high fever that caused your amnesia.  At that time, you fainted on your way to see a doctor and it was Jiang Zhaoyan who found you and sent you to the hospital. After you woke up, you forgot everything, but you still remembered Jiang Zhaoyan who saved you. From then on, you set your heart on him, and no matter how others advised you, you never looked back.”

It was a complicated situation, listening to someone tell you a memory that you have completely forgotten and that still has something to do with your feelings. Qi Cong endured the psychological discomfort and continued to ask, “I have done a lot of ridiculous things for him?”

“He has been using you! He knew that you liked him and depended on him, so he intentionally hanged you and deceived you! ” Shen Jia’s tone became fierce. “He is just a scum and looks just like a dog, but he doesn’t care about human affairs. Brother Cong, just forget the three years that you knew him. This must be God’s intervention. He couldn’t stand seeing how he bullied you, so he helped you. Really, believe me, he is a super scum!”

Qi Cong frowned.

After knowing each other for so many years, he could count on his fingers the number of times Shen Jia swore in front of him. Shen Jia was a soft tempered, kind and loyal person with a sense of righteousness. He doesn’t like to have conflicts with other people. For Jiang Zhaoyan to get such an evaluation from Shen Jia, he must really not have a good character.

He couldn’t believe that he fell in love with a guy with such poor character and had been obsessed with him for three years. Who he liked was obviously…

When the elevator stopped, Qi Cong gathered his thoughts and didn’t continue the topic. He appeased Shen Jia as they walked out of the elevator.

They went back to the apartment this time to get Qi Cong’s wallet and mobile phone, so that Qi Cong could sort out his debt situation as soon as possible. Before, when Shen Jia took Qi Cong to the hospital, he was anxious and forgot to help Qi Cong bring those things, so they were left in his apartment.

The two of them came to the door of the apartment. The door had a code lock, so Qi Cong looked at Shen Jia and asked, “What’s the code?” He wouldn’t ask Shen Jia if he knew, because Shen Jia must know, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to break inside to rescue him after he attempted suicide.

Shen Jia’s face sank. “930828.”

This string of numbers was obviously someone’s date of birth so Qi Cong asked, “Is it that man’s birthdate?”

Shen Jia responded with a disgusted expression.

Qi Cong looked at the lock mechanism and raised his hand to input this line of numbers.

After a tick, the lock was opened. Qi Cong didn’t immediately push the door open, but asked Shen Jia, “How do I change this code?”

Shen Jia was stunned, then overjoyed and hurriedly leaned forward to say, “It’s easy to change. Do you have the authority of the administrator? If you do, use your fingerprint to verify it, and then press this…”

Five minutes later, they reopened the door with the new code and entered the apartment.

The curtains of the apartment were half drawn and the light was very dim. Qi Cong fumbled to turn on the lights. A few wine bottles were scattered on the ground, revealing the living room full of takeout boxes and clutter.

Qi Cong, who was always very neat, frowned hard.

Is this a pigsty?

Shen Jia said cautiously, “Before you were hospitalized, because you and Jiang Zhaoyan had an argument and you left Jiang Zhaoyan’s company, you started living a little decadently. “

This was living decadently?

Qi Cong tried to ignore the messy living room and said, “My parents are still waiting, let’s get my things first.” Having said that, he didn’t take off his shoes, he just directly stepped into the living room.

Shen Jia quickly followed after him.

The wallet and cell phone were on the bedside table in his bedroom. Qi Cong found them and put them in his pocket. As he was about to leave, he stepped on an envelope that had fallen on the carpet beside the bed. He stopped and bent down to pick up the envelope.

The envelope was a common white envelope, on which there were two words written on it – suicide note.

Outside the room, Shen Jia was asking if he wanted to clean up the take-out garbage, so Qi Cong folded the envelope and put it in his pocket as walked out to answer.

After staying in the apartment for 20 minutes, they rushed back to the hotel where Qi Yin and Lin Hui lived with a small backpack.

When they arrived at the hotel, Qi Yin was awake. The four of them had a simple, but warm dinner together.

During the meal, Qi Yin asked Qi Cong about his plans for the future and asked if he really wanted to follow Shen Jia into the entertainment industry.

Qi Cong, who was eating his meal with chopsticks, kicked Shen Jia gently under the table, and replied, “Mm-hmm.  I’m going to work as an assistant for Jia Jia first, and wait to take the next step until I’m more familiar with the environment of that circle.”

Shen Jia stared at Qi Cong, hesitated, and then lowered his head and shut up.

Qi Yun nodded her head in approval. “Acting steady is very good. In fact, you don’t have to be a star. Didn’t you study to be a screenwriter in your university? Follow Jia Jia to have a look in the circle. If you can find a job as a screenwriter, it would also be good. Don’t worry about mom and dad. We can take care of ourselves. Your father got in touch with his old classmate today. He said that he could hire your father to be a foreign language teacher in his educational institution. Your dad was overjoyed to be able to return to his old job. ”

Lin Hui took Qi Cong chopsticks and said, “Yes, I’ve already talked about it and agreed to go back to work next week. You just have to do what you want to do. You don’t have to force yourself for your parents. ”

Qi Cong’s hands tightened under the table, but with a smile on his face he said, “I am not forcing myself. In fact, I plan to follow Jia Jia first to find out about the industry situation. If I can find a job related to my major, I will definitely not run errands for Jia Jia. “

After dinner, Qi Cong sent Qi Yin and Lin Hui back to their room, then went back to his room, closed the door, and took the suicide note out of his pocket.

He frowned and stared at the words “suicide note” on the envelope. Qi Cong walked into the room and looked around. He found a brochure at the head of the hotel bed and spread it out. He used a pen he found and carefully wrote the words “suicide note” on it. Then he put the envelope beside the brochure.

Shen Jia’s a really good friend. He was checking up on Qi Cong, and it sounds like QC really wasn’t a good person to hang out with for the last 3 years. And he’s willing to lend him money.
