Spare Tire is Gone – Chapter 39.1

Qi Cong was forced to continue to lean back, until his back was against the back of the sofa, unable to retreat further.

He moved uncomfortably, trying to start up a new topic and break the subtle and strange atmosphere. “I’m really sorry, but I was really listening to you. You said that I can start with substituting the emotions of the characters. Today, I’ve tried to build a complete character of Changqing for you and I have also done a character analysis. “

Gu Xun still did not speak, as his face was getting closer and closer, the smell of cedar was overwhelming. Qi Cong could even feel the light and slightly warm breath of Gu Xun when he breathed. And …… his eyes fell on Gu Xun’s oppressively perfect features. Qi Cong’s eyes swept over his thin lips, moving up and landing on Gu Xun’s slightly drooping eyes. Then following Gu Xun’s line of sight… he uncomfortably pursed his lips.

Gu Xun was looking at his ……

He tilted his head slightly and said, “Gu Xun, you–“

Gu Xun suddenly raised his eyes and looked at Qi Cong.

Qi Cong was shocked by the hot emotion in Gu Xun’s eyes and forgot the words he wanted to say, as his heart beat faster and faster.

It was… a little  dangerous.

“Cong.” Gu Xun reached out and grabbed Qi Cong’s arm to stop him from hiding. He tilted his head slightly, his voice sounded soft and low. “Cong, since I’m teaching you, shouldn’t you …… pay a little tuition to me?”

His arm was held and breath was captured. The distance between the two of them was only a few centimeters, so as long as Gu Xun lowered his head… Qi Cong shook his head hard and asked, “What do you want?”

Gu Xun’s eyebrows and eyes were smiling, his expression slightly evil and slightly domineering. He raised his hand and touched Qi Cong’s face. His tone was still gentle as he asked rhetorically, “What do you think?”

Qi Cong has never seen this version of Gu Xun but… he didn’t hate it. Because even now, Gu Xun didn’t do anything. He asked first and waited for his consent.

He looked at Gu Xun and thought of the comments he had seen during the day. His heart trembled and he almost compromised. It was almost like he was intoxicated. He could also hardly respond until… in the afterglow he saw the window with the curtains half open.

They could be photographed!

“No!” Qi Cong suddenly woke up, put his hand on Gu Xun’s shoulder and pushed him away. Getting up he moved to the single sofa on the side and looked at the window. Then he looked at Gu Xun using seriousness to cover up his previous misstep. “Let’s continue the lesson, I will listen properly this time. Tuition… etc. will be given to you later.”

Gu Xun slowly sat up straight and looked at Qi Cong, his eyes still dark. But his expression slowly became mild as he sounded a bit unsure, “Are you sure you will give it later?”

This kind of Gu Xun really was bad for his heart. Qi Cong nodded, “Hmm…  I’ll give it later. “

“Okay, then I’ll wait.” Gu Xun looked like he was compromising as his eyes swept over Qi Cong’s taut expression and tips of his reddened ears. Smiling, he tidied up the character information on his lap that had become messy due to his previous movement and leaned toward Qi Cong. “Then concentrate, no more distractions.”

Qi Cong adjusted and made a posture of obediently listening to the lecture.

Gu Xun then continued to explain, “Of your three scenes, only the last death scene is difficult. Although the length of the scene is very short, the emotion level is very rich. From the shock and disbelief from hearing the bad news, to the collapse of realizing that the desire in the heart can no longer be realized. Then pain due to being poisoned and hate toward his father for his dying. Finally to the mother and childhood nostalgia, his emotions should show a steep decline before gently disappearing which is difficult to interpret. Plus your character is wearing a mask, so you’re unable to show expressions. You can only rely on your posture and actions. Here…”

The low and sweet male voice spread in the room, making Qi Cong’s mood slowly calm down. At first, his eyes fell on the materials that Gu Xun was holding, then he couldn’t help but secretly look up and land on Gu Xun’s serious expression with slightly lowered eyebrows.

He seemed… to understand Gu Xun a little better now.

He smiled very shallowly, and after lowering his eyes, he concentrated on listening to Gu Xun’s analysis and explanation.

……

Perhaps Gu Xun’s analysis was too detailed or it impressed him too deeply. Maybe it was because everything was too much like a dream, but that night Qi Cong’s dreams had many twists and turns. In his dream, some people wore ancient clothes, some wore modern clothes, some cried, some laughed, some were cold-hearted, some were infatuated, and then their eyes became bloodshot.

Then the alarm clock sounded, making Qi Cong open his eyes. He sat up, covered his forehead as his dreams faded away. Only after a few minutes did his brain start to work again.

He frowned, pressed his drowsy head, turned off the alarm clock, and lifted the covers to get up.

When he was ready to go out, Qi Cong looked at his laptop on the table and suddenly remembered that he hadn’t visited Jiangtian.com since he came to Hengcheng. He raised his hand and slapped his forehead. Then he took out his phone and searched for the Jiangtian.com app and clicked to download it.

When he met up with Shen Jia and went to the restaurant to have breakfast together, Qi Cong installed the app and tried to log in with his author account.

The account login was successful, as his data from the Jiangtian.com site had been successfully migrated to the new site. Since he was new to the app he followed the system guidelines and set standard settings before the home page of Jiangtian.com popped up.

Like most of the websites , the top position on the home page of Jiangtian.com was reserved for the website’s gold list novels. Qi Cong casually swept through, and then his expression froze until he became completely expressionless.

The first place on the gold list: “Chivalrous Bones” by ‘Water Without Trace’

The second place on the gold list: “The End Of Chivalry” by ‘Water Without Trace’

The third and fourth place on the gold list: “Chivalrous bones Stained with Blood” by ‘Water Without Trace’ , “The Trip Of Chivalry” by ‘Water Without Trace’

The gold list was displayed in the form of a novel cover. Due to the limitation of the screen size of the mobile phone, the gold list could only display the top four covers, so for the novel below you needed to click on the down arrow to see more.

His current setting made it look like the whole gold list was taken over by “Chivalrous Bones” by ‘Water Without Trace’

Although this was actually one series.

Ironically, Jiangtian.com’s old novels and new author section was just below the golden list and Qi Cong’s “Chivalrous Bones” was ranked first in that section. Just like Editor Cold Wind Like a Knife said, it was next to Water Without Trace’s “Chivalrous Bones”.

But what was even more ironic was that the cover of Water Without Trace’s “Chivalrous Bones” had an excellent cover which was very eye-catching.  Meanwhile Qi Cong’s “Chivalrous Bones” cover, which was not set by the author himself, showed a random cover matched by the Jiangtian.com system, which was particularly simple and crude.

Plagiarism and originality, one is bright, the other is dull and simple, making many people not sure what to say.

He should’ve long asked that the plagiarized one be taken down.

He can’t ask the site to take down the plagiarised one unless he won the sueing case. He needed proof legally. The saddest part of this plagiarising incident is that in his 3 years blank period, the plagiarised works won multiple awards, boosting the thief career enough that he made sequel and sold the right to be adapted into movie. Like Qi Cong said, ultimately it become another stand alone work and his original looks like plagiarised one. That is why Gu Xun urged him to take the case to the court. Perhaps the ruling judgement later can be used to make Jiangtian listen to his demand to take it down.
